Universal Pictures has released another featurette for the upcoming horror film The last voyage of the Demetra. This video offers a behind-the-scenes look at how they brought this nightmarish version of the Bat-Man Dracula to life. This version of the creature is pretty terrifying, and it’s all pretty much done, which is great!
Director Andre Øvredal (The autopsy of Jane Doe, scary stories to be told in the dark) said that when he set out to make this film, he wanted to bring audiences the scariest depiction of Dracula ever, and I think he could do it.
The new promo video features interviews with the director alongside the actor Javier Botet, who plays Dracula in the film. This guy had to go through hours and hours of makeup. It seems like such a grueling process, but the result is damn beautiful. I am thrilled with this movie!
The story of the film focuses on a chapter from Bram Stoker’s classic horror novel, it is a unique story that follows the journey of Dracula as he terrorizes on the high seas. It is “based on a single chapter, The Captain’s Log, from Bram Stoker’s classic 1897 novel, Dracula. The chapter tells the story of the Russian schooner Demeter, chartered to carry a private cargo – twenty-four unmarked wooden crates – from Carpathia to London. The film will detail the strange events that befell the doomed crew as they attempted to survive the ocean voyage, pursued each night by a terrifying presence aboard the vessel. When she finally got close to Whitby Harbour, she was a wreck. There was no trace of the crew.’
The film is the protagonist Corey Hawkins (Kong: Skull Island, The Walking Dead), Aisling Franciosi, Liam Cunningham, David Dastmalchian, Jon Jon Briones, Stefan KapicicAND Nikolai Nikolaeff, with Javier Botet like Dracula.
The last voyage of the Demetra will be released in theaters on August 11, 2023.
