Werewolf Captain America will return for a new Marvel Comics limited series titled Capwolf and the Howling Commandos. This was announced by AIPT Comics and Capwolf & The Howling Commandos is a four issue set set during WWII and looks like a great story!
The synopsis reads, “When Captain America is transformed into a werewolf on the front lines of WWII, he’ll need the help of the Howling Commandos to bring down a band of Nazi cultists who plan to use supernatural forces to turn the tide of battle. But can Cap control the skeptical and weary Commandos when he can barely control himself?
I love these kind of meaty horror stories and I am thrilled with them. This would make for a great live-action or animated series!
The comic is by writer Stephanie Phillips (Cosmic Ghost Rider, Rogue & Gambit) and the artist Carlos Magno. Phillips shared a statement, “This is the kind of story I’ve been dying to tell at Marvel, fusing my love of historical fiction with the incredible history of characters from the Marvel Universe. CapWolf and the Howling Commandos may be a war story, but it also has horror, romance, and some new characters that we introduce along the way. And just wait until you see Carlos Magno’s incredible artwork in this series…”
In the 1990s, Cap turned into a werewolf after investigating a series of murders in Marvel’s Captain America #402-408 by Mark Gruenwald and Rick Levins. Steve Roger was faced with the evil Dr. Nightshade, who injected him with a serum created from the DNA of Jack Russell / werewolf of the night. Eventually it got better.
Capwolf and the Howling Commandos #1 goes on sale on October 11th.
