As THE WITCHER fans criticize season 2, showrunner promises fans will be heard with season 3

fans of The sorcerer the series has been quite vocal about the creative decisions that have been made with the series franchise. In response to a promotional post on Instagram The Witcher: Origin of Bloodfans have expressed their concerns about the creative direction of season 2.

Showrunners Lauren Schmidt Hissrich was reading these comments and responded to some of them. In a response she says that season 3 will see a “return to the books” and promises that fans will be heard. Here’s what she said:

“I’ve heard from the fans. And S3 shows a lot that they go back to the books, following the amazing journeys of our mainnet Sapkowski characters. I’m super excited for people to see this and feel heard. (We also answer a lot of questions from the first two seasons: Cahir’s journey, the introduction of the Scoia’tael, and how our family gets back together).

It’s kinda funny that he says that after the shocking announcement that Henry Cavill he was leaving the show and had been replaced by Liam Hemsworth. It’s definitely not something fans wanted. Also, one of the reasons Cavill left the show was because of disagreements he had with the creative about the direction of the story and his character. He was the one who advocated for the story to stay closer to the books, but now that he’s gone, after season 3, they’ll do whatever they want.

Cavill had previously expressed his frustrations with this during the press tour for season two, saying, “The hardest part for me was finding that balance between the showrunners’ vision and my love of the books, and trying to bring that Geralt in the showrunners. It’s about walking a fine line there. It’s the story of the showrunners and so it’s an adaptation. The hard part for me was finding Geralt from the place of the books in it and being able to serve both of them as much The things I pushed for, it wasn’t necessarily just about more dialogue, but about bringing a more faithful Geralt to the book to the screen. […] All of my questions and requests were along the lines of being true to the source material.”

So, the reason Season 3 goes back to the books is because Cavill worked to make that happen. Cavill knows what fans want, and now that he’s gone I wonder if they’ll go astray again with Season 4 and Season 5 with Hemsworth.

In The sorcerer Season 3, “while monarchs, wizards and beasts of the continent compete to capture her, Geralt hides Ciri of Cintra, determined to protect his newly reunited family from those who threaten to destroy it. Entrusted with magical training by Ciri, Yennefer leads them to the protected fortress of Aretuza, where he hopes to learn more about her untapped powers; instead, they find they’ve landed on a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic, and betrayal. They have to fight back, put everything on the line or risk being lost forever.

Talking Cavill’s final season and final two episodes, executive producer Steve Gaub he said: ‘It’s a very strong season for Henry, a great final run for him as Geralt. I think the most important thing for us was to make sure he was very proud of those last few [scenes]invariably those final moments are where you leave an audience with, and those final couple episodes are very strong episodes for him.

He went on to say that Cavill is “walking off with his head held high and passing the reins like so many franchises end up doing, passing a title character from one actor to another, and we’ll be in great hands with Liam.”

But will the series be in very good hands with the creative team with Cavill no longer involved? This has yet to be seen.

The first five episodes of The sorcerer Season 3 will be released on June 29, while Volume 2, including the last three episodes of the season, will be released on July 27.
