“The end of days is near, the Matalocalypse is upon us.” A trailer has been released for an upcoming heavy metal animated film titled Metalocalypse: Army of the Doomstar and reunites the metal band Adult Swim for an action-packed journey that includes, not just a feature film, but two albums and a tour.
The new animated film “starts after the heroic rescue of Toki Wartooth; Dethklok frontman Nathan Explosion finds himself traumatized into a BRUTAL professional and romantic flat-spin, all while he’s tasked with fulfilling prophecy and taking on the ultimate songwriting challenge to save the planet. Can Nathan Explosion look beyond his brutally damaged ego to save his band, stop Metalocalypse, and finally face the ultimate evil: Salacia?
The film was written and directed by Brendon Piccoloand star in the film together Tommy Blacha, Victor Brandt (Metalocalysse), Stephen “Thundercat” Bruner (Grammy® Award-winning musician), Diamond king, Mark Hammill (Batman: The Animated Series), Kirk Hammett, Jon Hamm (Top Gun: nonconformist), Scott Ian, Amy Lee, Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange), Juliet Mills, Laraine Newman (Saturday night live), Raya Yarbrough (Metalocalypse: The Doomstar Requiem – a Klok work), AND Livia Shut up.
Metalocalypse: Army of the Doomstar will be available for purchase digitally and on Blu-ray on August 22, 2023.
You can now pre-save Dethklok’s highly anticipated Dethalbum IV which includes all new original Dethklok songs, also releasing on August 22nd. Metalocalypse: Army of the Doomstar (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack), will include additional songs plus an Original Motion Picture Soundtrack and will be released on August 25th.

Originally premiering on Adult Swim in 2006, “Metalocalypse” ran for four seasons with a special Metalocalypse: The Doomstar Requiem. The series was created by Brendon Small and Tommy Blancha.
