SPIDER-MAN NOIR series update from SPIDER-VERSE producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller

A few months ago it was announced that Sony Pictures was developing a live-action Spider-Man Noir series for Amazon Studios. This is something I was curiously excited about because I’m a huge fan of Spider-Man Noir! Well, we have an update on the project from the Spider-Verse makers Phil Lord AND Chris Millerand there’s still a lot happening, it’s just stuck at the moment because of the writer’s strike.

During an interview with Collider, the producers were asked about the show and if it was still happening and Lord replied, “Yes! Era [in development] until the writers’ strike and everything shut down. But once that’s fixed, we’ll do it again. But it’s coming along well.”

Asked if there was any possibility Nicolas Cage could play the role in the series, Lord coyed and replied, “There’s some chance.”

As you know, Cage voiced the character Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verseand Cage has previously spoken about the Spider-Man Noir character, saying, “Well, I think he’s a wonderful character. He’s a character that lends itself to channeling some of my favorite noir movie stars. It doesn’t matter if the younger generation does i don’t know who [Humphrey] Bogart is or [James] Cagney is. The point is, those vocalizations or Edward G. Robinson, those beats worked. They work on the camera. They work in terms of how they sound. Spider-Man, to me, is the coolest superhero. I think having that, combined with a noir attitude, like that of the 1930s movie stars, makes him one of the most exciting characters of all superheroes.”

The series will be set in the 1930s as we follow the adventures of this variant of Spider-Man ready to take on the criminal underworld in his unmistakable noir style. We have already seen Nicolas Cage voice the dark hero in the critically acclaimed animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Versebut it will be interesting to see the Noir Spider-Man in live action.

Spider-Man Noir was introduced in “a version of New York City during the Great Depression. While investigating a smuggling ring, Peter Parker is bitten by what appears to be a highly venomous spider housed within an idol of the spider god. Knocked unconscious, Parker has a vision of the spider-god that promises him power. He then awakens within a cocoon and emerges from it, now possessing superhuman spider-like abilities. As the feared vigilante “Spider-Man,” Parker wages a single-handed war against the criminal underworld of New York City, in part to avenge the deaths of his uncle Ben Parker and his mentor Ben Urich at the hands of the city’s top criminal. city. sir, Norman Osborn. After Osborn’s defeat, Spider-Man Noir continues his vigilante life for years and opposes the forces of Nazi Germany even before the United States enters World War II. In contrast to the Peter Parker of Marvel’s mainstream continuity, Spider-Man Noir initially uses brutal, lethal force against his enemies and later struggles with the moral implications of it.

Can’t wait to see this series start to take shape! It has the potential to be awesome!
