The holidays are getting a lot gorier this year with the modern remake of the cult horror classic Silent night, deadly night and we have a brutal new red-band trailer to watch.
Studiocanal has taken a fresh look at this twisted Christmas story, and it’s every bit as violent, shocking, and gleefully disturbing as fans could hope for.
“In 1984, a film shocked audiences, was banned from theaters, and traumatized an entire generation. From the studio that produced Terrifier 3, comes a fresh, unrated take on the cult classic. This Christmas, spread holiday fear.”
The film follows Billy, a man forever haunted by the terrible memory of his parents’ murder at the hands of a killer dressed as Santa Claus. Years later, the trauma turns into something darker, and Billy dons the red suit himself, only this time he’s the one doling out the punishment.
The official synopsis reads: “A reimagining of the controversial 1984 cult horror classic (directed by Charles E. Sellier Jr.). When Billy witnesses the grisly murder of his parents on Christmas Eve at the hands of Santa Claus, he begins a lifelong mission to spread the fear of the holidays.
“Every Christmas, he dons the jolly red suit and carries out a blood-soaked massacre to fuel his twisted sense of justice. This Christmas Eve, Billy wants to know, ‘Have you been bad?'”
Written and directed by Mike P. Nelsonthis new version of Silent night, deadly night it seems like he’s going all-in with the brutality. Nelson, who was previously at the helm The servants and the Wrong turn reboot, seems determined to ramp up the carnage while keeping the grim Christmas spirit intact.
The film is the protagonist Rohan Campbell, Rubino Modine, Marco Acheson, David Lawrence BrownAND David Tomlinson.
The latest trailer is drenched in blood, filled with twisted Christmas imagery and accompanied by an ominous Christmas tune that turns cheer into pure terror.
Cineverse is coming out Silent night, deadly night in select theaters starting December 12, 2025. So if you’ve been naughty this year, you might find yourself on Billy’s list.
