Harrison FordThe last ride with Indiana Jones is coming Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, which looks to be an incredibly fun final adventure for Indiana. While this is the last movie to star Ford, there’s a chance the franchise could very well continue without the character.
This is a major IP for Lucasfilm, so it makes sense that they want to continue the franchise. At one point, they were considering a spinoff series, but there’s no update on what that might entail, but it’s something they’re still considering.
During a recent interview with the Dagobah Dispatch podcast, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said, “It’s Harrison’s latest entry. That’s how we look at the Indy franchise. I mean, honestly, right now, if we were to do anything , could be in a television series down the road, but we’re not doing anything to replace Indiana Jones.
Kennedy continued, “There are five films that Harrison Ford has done. And Harrison is so specific and so unique in crafting this role. We, Steven [Spielberg] he agrees, we just wouldn’t do it.”
But they are open to trying other things with different characters set in the same universe. If they continue to build on this franchise, the one thing I can get excited about is seeing a show where Ke Huy Quan reprises his role as Short Round, following him in a series of epic archaeological adventures!
When Lucasfilm decides to move forward with the Indiana Jones franchise without Ford, are there any ideas you would like to see explored?
