We don’t have a complete list of games to share with you, but the press release highlights a few, including the “Bubsy, Hardball, Demolition Racer series, as well as 1942: Pacific Air War, F-117A and F-14 series of aerial combat.
Atari’s plan is to “expand digital and physical distribution of classic titles, create new IP-based games, and explore brand and merchandising partnerships.”
Atari CEO Wade Rosen said in a statement, “This is a huge catalog that includes innovative and award-winning titles from Accolade, Infogrames and Microprose. Many of these titles are part of Atari’s history and fans can’t wait to see many of these games re-released physically and digitally, and in some cases even ported to modern consoles.
Atari also acquired the trademark for the Accolade and GTI brands. Accolade was a respected US-based video game developer and publisher from 1984 to 2000.
Atari is “embarking on a multi-year effort to transform the company behind one of the world’s most iconic brands. A major part of this effort involves expanding Atari’s video game business, leveraging the company’s extensive IP catalog to release classic games and bring high-quality new games to market. Atari’s vast IP library is the vault from which new and exciting game development ideas are mined: reimagining old classics, reinventing storylines, and developing all-new narratives inspired by the games that shaped the course of an entire industry.
It will be interesting and fun to see how Atari’s grand plans for these titles play out!
