During a recent interview with AV Club, Campbell was asked if he would like to see a larger-scale, even more chaotic film. evil Dead movie, and this was his response:

“The only problem is that it can get out of hand and if we get into that world too quickly, it’s hard to get it back. I think the stories will progress a little more now. We will try to do them more every two or three years rather than every 10 years.

He continued to talk about the evil Dead Bible, saying:

“It’s also the first time Sam has been working with his brother Ivan to create an overall Bible that gives future writers and directors an idea of where this thing should go to potentially tie into some of these stories. So I think he’s going to get a little more close as the years go on. But because it’s all about the books. It could be a book in the past, a book in the future. It is yet to be defined.”

The books he refers to are the Books of the Dead which exist in the evil Dead universe. I’m just thrilled that this franchise is alive and well and that there are plans to continue telling these nightmarish stories. I’d love to see Raimi come back and direct one, which he anticipated, but he also has a good eye for bringing in other talented people to make these films like Faith Alvarez AND Lee Cronin.

A Bible will certainly help keep the rules of the universe consistent. I’m excited to see what comes of this, and as a longtime fan of the franchise, I’m here for whatever terrifying story they want to throw at us!

The Rise of the Evil Dead will be released in theaters on April 21, 2023.
