David Morse, Bill Heck & Jaklyn Bejarano on the Set of Texas Border Drama “La Gloria”

EXCLUSIVE: David Morse (The chair), Bill Heck (lock and key) and Jaklyn Bejarano will star in Santa Rita Film Co La Gloria, a drama that explores the humanity and political abstractions surrounding the US-Mexico border. Bejarano came on board after a nationwide search for a cast member in Mexico.

Set in South Texas and expected to be shot in the area, the film follows the story of Carson Tidwell (Morse), a bitter and isolated rancher who accidentally shoots a young, pregnant migrant girl named Irena (Bejarano). which crosses his property. Faced with his actions and the threat of a criminal investigation, Carson must decide whether to help Irena recover at his ranch or face criminal prosecution led by his son (Heck), a US Border Patrol agent.

Christopher Young’s screenplay is based on the personal experiences of Joseph Todd Walker, who is making his feature directorial debut. The film is produced and financed under the banner of Santa Rita Film Co. directed by producers Houston Hill and Ty Roberts, their sports drama 12 powerful creatures starring Luke Wilson, Martin Sheen and Robert Duvall was released by Sony Pictures Classics last year. Sharri Hefner and George Sledge also produce, while Santa Rita is executive produced by Greg McCabe, Allen Gilmer and Matt Harvey.

“I grew up on my grandparents’ ranch on the US-Mexico border,” Walker told Deadline about the personal story that influenced the film. “We’re shooting on location at their farm at the location that inspired this story.”

“We are proud to support this film and shed light on a story so relevant to today’s news and the ongoing challenges we face across the US-Mexico border,” Hill noted, adding that his Santa Rita Film Co. partner Roberts added, “It was important for us to shoot on location in Texas to maintain the authenticity of the story.”

Morse is a two-time Emmy nominee who was last seen on Netflix The chair with Sandra Oh and in shows like Showtime’s The good Mr. VogelApple TV+s The morning program and HBO’s The two. The actor has also appeared in serials Escape from Dannemora, blind spot, cap, tram, Real detective, house, John Adams, outsider And St. Elsewhere, amongst other things. Notable film credits include Thank you for your service, The green mile, 16 blocks, The pain box, World War Z And concussion. Morse will appear in the Apple miniseries directed by Jennifer Garner Last thing he said to metakes to the stage on April 14, starring opposite John Lithgow in Alejandro Monteverde’s upcoming movie, Cabrini.
