HBO Max has released the first trailer for True Detective: Night Countrywhich is the fourth installment of the dark police drama franchise. Jodie Foster stars of the series alongside Kali Reisand find themselves faced with a rather intense case that leads them into dark and dangerous territory.

True Detective: Night Country comes from the writer, director and showrunner Issa Lopez, and in the story, “When the long winter night falls in Ennis, Alaska, the eight men who run the Tsalal Arctic Research Station vanish without a trace. To solve the case, Detectives Liz Danvers (Foster) and Evangeline Navarro (Reis) must face the darkness within them and dig into the haunted truths that lie buried beneath the eternal ice.
The cast also includes Fiona Shaw, Finn Bennett, Isabella Star Lablanc, Aka Niviâna, Anna Lambe, Joel D. Montgrand, Christopher Eccleston AND John Hawkes.
The series will be released later this year, but no release date has been set yet.
