It was great Star Wars news day thanks to Star Wars Celebration, underway in London. Another report has surfaced involving Lucasfilm Andor Season 2, as writer and creator Tony Gilroy discusses what we can expect from it. While he doesn’t give any story details, he explains that it explores the stresses, heartbreak, and triumphs of the growing rebellion. During Lucasfilm’s presentation at the event, Gilroy said:

Mark Hamill and his Return of the Jedi helix lightsaber reunite in Pop Culture Quest Clip
“Think about the revolution, and think about it from Luthen Rael’s point of view, and from Saw Gerrera’s point of view, and from Mon Mothma’s point of view. They started out as original gangsters in this thing, and it’s underground, and it’s secret, and it’s small, and it’s isolated and confined. It’s going to be big in four years. Think of any restaurant you knew that started out as a bar, think of any startup company. What happens? Things get really complicated. If your actions and trading your business are paranoia, secrecy, betrayal and heavy consequences, expanding your business is really hard.
The story of Season 2 will unfold over the course of four years, which will see the Rebellion expand in some major ways, and with that expansion, there will be problems and obstacles that will come along the way. It was previously explained that every three episodes in Andor Season 2 will cover the one-year story and lead right into the events of Rogue One.
Season 2 will take us through the years of Diego Lunais the journey of Cassian Andor as a spy for the Rebellion and how he tracked down the secret of the construction of the Death Star. Gilroy went on to say:
“So think about it from the imperial side and they’re getting very, very close to a very important energy project. People may have heard of it. It’s an energy project. I guess it’s no surprise, but I think you’ll see the wear, you’ll see everyone the stresses and all the heartbreak and all the triumph of the 20 or 30 people we’re carrying on, with Cassian at the center. It’s a very complicated piece of chaos and history that we’re going to pay attention to.”
Gilroy went on to say, “We’re going to work the calendar. There are events in our calendar and you know what they are, some of them, and they’re very important, and we’re going to play them.” I’m guessing some of that has to do with the Death Star, but there’s also a lot of other stuff going on as the Rebellion is trying to fight the rise of the Empire.
Andor Season 2 will premiere in August 2024!
