Shazam! AND Shazam!: Fury of the Gods director David F. Sandberg he’s been making his latest superhero movie for a while. After the disappointing opening for Fury of the Godsthe director is ready to move on and go back to horror which will definitely be a good move for him because he makes great horror movies!
The director jumped recently Chirping to talk about what his future as a filmmaker looks like, and it doesn’t involve superhero movies. This is what he shared:
“On Rotten Tomatoes I just got my lowest critics score and highest audience score in the same film. I didn’t expect a critical repeat of the first film, but I was still a little surprised because I think it’s a good film . Alright .”
“As I’ve been saying for some time, I can’t wait to get back to horror (as well as trying new things). After six years of Shazam! I’m definitely done with superheroes for now. One thing I was really looking forward to is disconnecting from the superhero talk online. A lot of these things stress me out so much and it will be nice not to have to think about it anymore.”
He’s certainly spent his fair share of time in the world of Shazam! and I guess he’s probably kind of happy that he most likely won’t have to do another Shazam! the movie again. It will be great to see him direct another horror film and it will be great to see what that horror film ends up being in the end! He has previously directed films such as Lights off AND Annabella creationwhich were both great horror movies.
