When it comes to the year’s favorites, genres like war, drama, and art take precedence over any other story. And that’s not an open voice, hundreds of film industry insiders have spoken about it. So don’t get caught off guard next time a genre film gets snubbed at the Oscars, like these crime thrillers did.

And now I am popular crime films by many, but that were underrated at the oscars, but we could talk about any genre film, even more so when it comes to horror. But the best of all this is that many people will come across them and discover a large community that appreciates them and shares the love for these must-have tapes.

Prisoners

From the mind of Denis Villeneuve and starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Hugh Jackman and Paul Dano, we have ‘Prisoners’, a crime thriller that was not nominated for an Oscar, despite the fact that the performances of its leads were the best in its debut year. The story follows two families searching for their missing daughters and taking justice into their own hands. Available on YouTube, Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV.

Match

Although Leonardo DiCaprio wasn’t recognized with a gold statuette until ‘The Revenant’, many believe he should have won an Oscar for ‘The Departed’, a crime drama directed by Martin Scorsese. Vera Farmiga, Jack Nicholson, Matt Damon and Mark Wahlberg round out the cast of this thriller about two police infiltrators and a criminal organization. Available on Amazon Prime Video.

good time

It’s also a shame that Robert Pattinson’s great performance in the Safdie brothers’ ‘Good Time’ was one of many detective films ignored by the oscars. The story follows a bank robber who wants to free his brother from prison which makes him start a mission that will take him through the dangerous criminal underworld of New York City.

kill Bill

It’s now a classic that movie fans have to face, but it’s surprising that Quentin Tarantino’s “Kill Bill” was not considered for the 2004 Oscars. Uma Thurman, Luciy Liu, David Carradine and Michael Madsen starred in the story of a woman who wakes up from a coma and now wants to take revenge on those responsible for her betrayal.

nightcrawler

Though only nominated for Best Original Screenplay for Dan Gilroy, ‘Nightcrawler’ is one of the best neo-noir thrillers in recent years, which deserved more. In one of Jake Gyllenhaal’s best performances, the story follows Louis Bloom, an unemployed young man who, driven by desperation, begins filming horrific accidents to sell on television. Available on HBO Max.
