

Paramount Confirms ‘Smile’ Sequel With Parker Finn Back To Direct – Paramount (Courtesy)
In the count of the best horror films of 2022, one of the recurring titles of press and fans, was ‘Smile’, a surprise made on a small budget, but which was a box office success. For the latter whether the sequel was imminent, and now, after several months of waiting, Paramount has confirmed that Parker Finn is back to shoot the second part.
According to information from The Hollywood Reporter, Parker Finn has signed a contract with Paramount in the horror division of the company, where he will develop some titles. This part of the company is now led by Walter Hamada, former president of DC Films, who was fired after the cancellation of “Batgirl” on HBO Max and the release of “Black Adamn” starring Dwayne Johnson.
Although it has not been specified which projects he will be working on, Brian Robbins, CEO of Paramount, said that “Smile 2′ it is a priority for the company, and he didn’t miss an opportunity to praise the work of Parker Finn with his blockbuster horror film, which was made for just $17 million and managed to gross more than $215 million at the global box office, the which is therefore not surprising the announcement of the continuation.
With the before ‘smile’ at Paramount+ Mexico this March 16th, the company saw fit to sign an exclusive deal with Parker Finn for the future of its franchise. Though at the moment that’s all the details that are known about it, and it’s unknown if Sosie Bacon will return as Dr. Rose Cotter in any way.

What is known about the story of “Smile 2”
In late December 2022, Parker Finn spoke to The Hollywood to share the first details of the ‘Smile 2’ story, where he said, “There are definitely some stones that I have left loose ends from the design. And then there are other things that, at one time or another, I wanted to put in the film, but for some reason they didn’t end up in the film,” said the director.
“I think there’s still a lot of interesting things to explore in the world of ‘Smile,’” concluded Parker Finn. Recall that the end of the first part was open, leaving the possibility of continuing Rose’s story, or starting a completely new storyline. “But if there’s more to do, I never want to repeat myself or rebuild the same ground.”
Finally, Parker Finn said that he’d like to “make sure there’s a new, exciting, fresh way that audiences aren’t expecting.” […] I’m interested in finding new ways to scare them and make them nervous. But as far as how it can connect to the first one, if we did that, I’d like that to be great too.”
