The New York Times writes that tens of thousands of Lego pieces were found in a California home and a man was arrested for selling stolen collectibles.
There were plastic figurines placed throughout the house, their heads removed and carefully arranged according to their facial expressions. Buckets and containers were filled with tens of thousands of pieces of shrapnel, according to police, and were strewn across the living room tables. Unopened boxes lined the walls of the hallway. The investigation, which started last month, resulted in the arrest of 39-year-old Robert Lopez. Lopez stole popular toys worth more than $6,000, police said Wednesday.
The thief was charged with organized retail theft and conspiracy to commit a felony, among other crimes. Under California law, those convicted of organized retail theft face up to three years in prison. Stolen Lego sets can cost anywhere from $4.99 to nearly a thousand dollars, according to the company’s website.
Previously, they wrote about how a lost museum exhibit was found in the courtyard of a private house after 70 years.
