Everything changed after Carano shared some offensive messages on his social networks, some publications that caused his irreversible departure from the series. So one of the main unknowns for new episodes premiering March 1 on Disney+ is what will happen to Cara Dune. Jon Favreau has already anticipated it in his statements to eCartelera: “We’ve dealt with it in the series, so I don’t want to spoil anything”. Now Dave Filoni, co-creator of this television drama together with Favreau, and Rick Famuyiwa, executive producer and director of several episodes, have provided some more details about it. This creative tandem, in statements to Deadline, brings down that character of Carano it just wouldn’t have a place in a season devoted enough to the friction between the different Mandalorian factions and other Mandalore political issues.

Famuyiwa, who is directing episodes 1, 7 and 8 of the third season, says so Cara Dune’s departure has the writers’ room very worried. “Cara was an important part of this world and will continue to have a place in it. [Su marcha] It had to be approached from a creative point of view and [Jon Favreau] he took his time to mull it over. It was something that was being discussed because we knew it would have an impact on the series, but at the same time, the heart of ‘The Mandalorian’ is its two protagonists, Din Djarin and Grogu, as well as the Mandalorians, so in the end Cara Dune is put at the service of this”.

For his part, Filoni, who in addition to co-creating this series starring Pedro Pascal is the creative director of Lucasfilm, clarifies that the character of Carano would fulfill his role, role that would be left behind for future chapters focused on exploring Mandalore and its people.

a great character

Plus, Filoni defends that Cara Dune is “a great character, vital to Din Djarin’s beginnings”ensuring that although the fans themselves have promoted the hashtag #FireGinaCarano, there are those who are asking for her return.

“It’s a huge galaxy and we have a lot of characters, so everyone is constantly fighting for screen time. As the season unfolds, We’ll have to see what adventures we have, but he’s a great character, someone who was instrumental in the beginnings of Din Djarin. We’ll see if she evolves beyond that.”.

Of course, despite leaving that window open, Filoni warns that season 3 “mainly deals with the Mandalorians and their saga, on the tales of mandalore. Ever since he ran into Bo-Katan, Din has met several characters who will gain prominence, which makes sense considering where the story arc is headed.and about his and Grogu’s story”.

The third season of ‘The Mandalorian’ debuts at weekly episode every Wednesday starting March 1 on Disney+.
