In the time Jackman spent playing Wolverine, he screamed and yelled and growled a lot. It turns out that all of this ended up damaging his voice. Jackman spoke about this in an interview with the BBC First row said:
“I damaged my voice with Wolverine. My falsetto isn’t as loud as it used to be and I directly attributed this to some of the growling and yelling. My voice teacher at drama school would be horrified by some of the things I did [as Wolverine].”
Jackman went on to talk about how he was taught a technique in school on how to yell without ruining your voice, but apparently he didn’t use it while playing Wolverine, he just let loose. He explained:
“We learned a technique [in school] how to shout and how to yell without ruining your voice. However, during Wolverine, I yelled and yelled and things that I think hurt my voice. I’m working on it. I work with a singing teacher and try not to hurt myself. I put a lot of effort into both physical movements and vocal preparation for each role.”
Now he’s getting ready to yell and yell a lot Deadpool 3! Maybe he’ll be a little more careful with his voice this time.
Deadpool 3 is directed by Shawn Levi and will be Marvel’s first R-rated film. Levy previously teased how violent and gross it will be by saying:
“We’re writing, rewriting, developing, prepping ‘Deadpool’ every day now. It’s so much fun to laugh every day. It’s so delightful to listen and write and come up with these scenes where people talk shit. And the violence is in your face and hardcore, and it’s just a ‘Deadpool’ movie.”
The film is also the protagonist Ryan Reynolds AND Emma Corrin. One thing we do know about the movie is that Wolverine and Deadpool aren’t going to get along. It has been explained that Wolverine hates Deadpool. I also imagine that the film will see them on some kind of journey together. Before Disney bought Fox, the film “was going to be a journey between Deadpool and Logan. Rashmon style. Really.”
A RashmonStyle story is where the same event is told by multiple characters and the stories differ in ways that are impossible to reconcile. It shows that two or more people can view the same event quite differently. I hope they stick to this, because it would be a lot of fun!
Deadpool 3 will be released in theaters on November 8.
