Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical “Cinderella” closes in June in London, will be renewed for Broadway in 2023

London Theater composer and owner Andrew Lloyd Weber (the Phantom of the Opera) on Sunday informed actors and creatives that his Cinderella The musical will conclude at the Gillian Lynne Theater, Covent Garden, London, on June 12, after less than a year.

The show will travel to Broadway again in 2023. However, Lloyd Webber and his creative team plan to update every aspect of the product before it gets there.

Cinderella, The one that opened last July suffered a devastating loss that wasn’t helped by the late opening and temporary suspension of functions last summer. There were delays in the cast that tested positive at Covid, as well as when Lloyd Webber and his team rearranged the show. There was also concern behind the scenes, with some cast members complaining that they thought they weren’t treated fairly by management.

The actors were told the final story before taking the stage tonight.

The management wrote tonight to “Dear Cinderella’s family”:

It’s a shame you’re writing to inform us that the really useful group staging Cinderella will be making its final run at the Gillian Lynn Theater on Sunday 12th June.

As Andrew himself commented today, Cinderella spearheaded the task of reopening the West End, ensuring that theater and live entertainment remained relevant and in the news. While installing the new show in the midst of COVID was an incredible challenge, we made a pandemic during the pandemic during the pandemic during which the feet of the government were set on fire.

As some of you already know, we have just notified the creative / production teams, the actors, the crew and the announcement will soon be posted in the press and on social media. The Andrew, RUG and Green Light Stage teams would like to express our deep gratitude to all involved in the production and our deepest condolences for deserving to arrive much earlier. RUG and GLS are available tomorrow and beyond to discuss further details as needed.

Thank you for your immeasurable contribution to the show. We should all be very proud of Cinderella and everything we have accomplished together and we hope to cross our paths very soon.

To be honest,

Everyone is really helpful in the group.
