Almost a year ago the sequel to the 2007 film ‘I am legend’, starring Will Smith, was confirmed. Recently, screenwriter Akiva Goldsman and one of the producers of the project announced it Warner Bros. is already working on it.
Although it is true that the news took us by surprise since, if we recall, the film ended with the death of Neville, Smith’s character, and did not give rise to a possible second part, the screenwriter took to clarify our doubts by declaring to Deadline that: “Let’s go back to the original book of [Richard] Matheson, and the alternate ending to the original released in the film. Matheson spoke of man’s time on the planet as the end of the dominant species. It’s something really cool that we’re going to explore. There will be more fidelity to the original text”. For the uninitiated, the Blu-ray version of the film featured an alternative ending – more similar to what Matheson wrote – and which apparently will be the starting point of this sequel.

While we still don’t know the character Michael B. Jordan will play in the film, Goldsman confessed where the inspiration came from: “I’m obsessed with “The Last of Us”, where we see the world right after an apocalypse, but also 20-30 years from now. You can see how the earth reclaims the world, and is there something valuable in the question of what happens when man ceases to be the primary occupant? This will be especially visual in New York. I don’t know if they will scale the Empire State, but the possibilities are endless”adding that: “This will start a few decades after the first one”.
The apocalypse is in fashion
Series and movies about zombies and the end of the world are a fairly recurring theme, but there is one that is having a unexpected success that is breaking records.’The Last of Us’, the series that adapts the video game, is fascinating us to such an extent that even Goldsman was inspired by it. Right now, looking forward to next week’s Chapter 6 premiere, we know, thanks to the preview HBO Max released at the end of the previous episode, that what’s coming is already far from Kansas City, that we’ll see an exciting reunion it’s a direct connection with the second part of the game.
