Head of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige revealed a pretty great detail about Harrison FordMCU character Thaddeus Ross. He will make his big debut in Captain America: New World Order , and when he does, he will be the President of the United States! This explains perfectly why Ford was cast in the role! He has a solid history of playing these kinds of characters! While speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Feige was asked New world order and casting Ford, and this is what he said:
“We will start shooting relatively soon. I’m sure anyone who’s ever talked to Harrison Ford says this, but it’s amazing that we get to meet and talk to him and that he’s embracing this role. He is tireless with the amount of work he does. This is definitely a big part for Thaddeus Ross. He is the president of the United States in the film. And with Harrison, you think about Air Force One, and you think about some of the comparisons of him to the president in Clear and Present Danger.
He goes on to explain, “There is a dynamic between President Ross and Sam Wilson (Antonio Macchie). They have a history together, but in this movie we see the dynamic between Captain America and the President of the United States in a way that’s just incredible.”
Well that’s exciting to hear! Ford will also play Ross in the Thunderbolts movie, but we don’t know if he’ll still be president when that movie comes out. In a previous interview, Ford was asked what motivated him to join the MCU at this point, and he explained:
“I don’t know. I can’t explain it, I just work here. (Laughs.) I thought, ‘Everyone else seems to be having a good time.’ I watch all these amazing actors having a good time [in Marvel movies]. I like to do something different from what I have always done and please people. So I’ll try a piece.”
Julius Ona is set to direct New World Order from a script written by Dalan Musson AND Malcolm Spellmanfor which they both wrote The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Spellman will produce alongside Feige. The film is also the protagonist Shira Haas, TimBlake NelsonAND Charles Lumbly.
