Daniel Grao (‘The Invisible Girl’): “Blue Jeans is very happy with the final result”

A terrible crime has been committed in the town of Cárdena, in Andalusia. A place where everyone knows each other and where the victim, a high school girl named Aurora, had some enemies. Thus begins the premise of ‘The Invisible Girl’, the new Disney+ series, which opens on February 15th and which adapts the famous novel of the same name by Francisco de Paula, better known as Blue Jeans. “The author told us he was very happy with the final result”shares Daniel Grao, one of the protagonists of the fiction.

The ‘Lost’ and ‘Giants’ actor embodies Miguel Ángel, a policeman who has decided to settle in the city of his childhood, Cárdena, a quiet imaginary city in Andalusia. He tries to reconnect with his teenage daughter, Julia (Zoe Stein), who is in high school and has an unusual investigative curiosity following the tragic death of her mother. Their lives will be turned upside down when the lifeless body of one of Julia’s classmates, Aurora, appears. In a town where everyone knows each other, suspicions multiply and father and daughter must join forces to find the killer.

Adaptation of the Blue Jeans novel of the same name, both actors confess that the television version takes a lot of licenses from the source materialwhich will make fans of the book rediscover the story and allow the lay public to appreciate it as a different story.

“I had already read his Blue Jeans novels, but the romantic ones, when I was 13. I still keep them at home, in fact. He knew who he was, but it’s true that he hadn’t read his thriller sagas, which has nothing to dealing with their love stories, but when it came time to start the project, they advised me not to read the book, as the series is different and thought it best to start building my character from scratch . “, Zoe Stein points out in an interview with eCartelera in Madrid.

Daniel Grao (‘The Invisible Girl’): “Blue Jeans is very happy with the final result”

“I’ve done several novel-based productions and it makes sense if the fiction isn’t completely faithful to the source material. After all, it’s another language. If you want to stay with the gist and facts but want to bring them to other emotional issues that don’t appear in the book, like where my character is a widower in the series or that they chose to bring an older adult framework to the series No need to read the original source. Ultimately you work on the script and stick to it, as well as having conversations with the director about how we’re going to approach the different scenes. But, of course, we can always read the original novel as an add-on.”Daniel Grao exhibits.

“I was very moved to see my characters transform into people of flesh and blood”

Although it has many changes, both actors underline how satisfied Blue Jeans is with the final result, emphasizing that precisely because the series is very different, it allows fans to rediscover the story. “That Blue Jeans is so happy, it relieves us a lot. It is always said that there could be many readers who want to approach the series and see what their feeling is. He told us that it was clear that these differences add to and strengthen the saga. He is very convinced that his readers will like it.”the actor advances.

“All of this is very exciting and has already been since the publisher, Planeta, announced to me that Morena Films was about to sign on to adapt ‘The Invisible Girl’. There will be other authors who think differently, but for me I was very excited to see my characters see them live. It has been a natural process, we have been adapting for almost three years, with the pandemic involved. Everything from the cast announcement to the script submission was exciting. I just feel grateful. I can’t wait for people to watch the series”shares Blue Jeans visibly excited.

A series that he chose to turn the city into one more protagonist, turning Carmona into Cárdenathe imaginary city of ‘The invisible girl’, in the middle of summer and with heat waves, which transmits the heat and its consequences in every sequence of the fiction. “The city didn’t have a name in the book. I’m from Carmona and it was a wonderful coincidence that my land was the setting for filming the series. There was a certain idea in my head about the costumes, the remoteness of the buildings I think it was a success that the series chose to set the story in Andalusia, with that warmth that transmits so much”adds the author.

‘The invisible girl’ consists of 8 episodes, with an average duration of 30 and 45 minutes. Created by Carmen López-Areal, Marina Efron, Norberto López Amado and Pedro Uriol. Based on the first installment of Blue Jeans’ “Invisible Girl” trilogy. The fiction is directed by López Amado and Aritz Moreno.
