Super Bowl Sunday will not only be the biggest night in football, it will also be the roast of Mr. Peanuts. To promote its new line of dry roasted peanut products, Planters put on a comedy show for his beloved pet, recruiting some of the best comedians in the game, like Jeff Ross, Natasha Leggero, Atsuko Okatsuka, Yamaneika Saunders, Frank Castillo, David Lucas, AND Sarah Tiena, and they didn’t balk at Mr. Peanut in the commercial, which airs during Super Bowl LVII on Sunday, February 12.
The 30-second ad opens with none other than Roastmaster General Jeff Ross making a joke about Mr. Peanut, but as is tradition in a roast, he then admitted to something he loved about the mascot. He remembers, we only bake the ones we love. “I’ll make it quick, Mr. Peanut. I know you have some brownies to mess with,” he said. “I’m a huge fan. I love your work with Thai food.
There was also a super cut of all the comedians addressing Mr. Peanut, and fans got to see some of the jokes that will come at his expense, like Natasha Leggero’s comment about her dress. “Mr. Peanut, why are you dressed like five recessions ago?” she asked.

Mr. Peanut was a good target for some of the comics. Frank Castillo made a similar comment about the lack of socks. “We all agree. There’s the rich man and there’s the one who hasn’t worn pants in 100 years,” he joked.
Atsuko Okatsuka had her most original question for Mr. Peanut about his preference when it comes to party snacks. “Mr. Peanut, what do you eat at parties? People?” she asked.

As per tradition during a roast, Mr. Peanut managed to grab the last mic at the end of the ad, and since some of the comics had heavy roasts, he made his own joke referencing the Planters 2020 ad campaign in which he died and it was reborn. . “Wow, that was brutal. I wish the Planters would kill me again,” he said.
While there are plenty of great jokes at the expense of Mr. Sunday’s Feb. 12 announcement on his PlantersMadeToBeRoasted.com.
