When it was announced that DC Studios was producing a game of ThronesWonder Woman-style series on Themyscira titled paradise islandI wasn’t sure what that meant Gal Gadotversion of the superhero. History will tell the origin of that island long before Diana was born, so she definitely wouldn’t have been a part of it.
WELL, James Gunn confirmed that Gal Gadot is still on board to play Wonder Woman, but admits he’s still not sure what to do with her. When Gunn was asked if any former stars were in talks about the future of the franchise, this was his response:
We don’t know. We’ve talked to Gal. He’s going to do things. We’re not sure what we’re going to do with them. All I can tell you right now is really just Henry [Cavill] and Ben [Affleck] they are not part of this universe.”
We knew Affleck and Cavill came out as Batman and Superman, but it’s great that Gadot will be back as Wonder Woman in the future. We just don’t know when she will be or how it will happen.
Director Patty Jenkins pitched a third Wonder Woman film to the DC Studios team, but they pitched it because it didn’t fit into the plans Gunn and Peter Safran were developing. But eventually they’ll get to do something with Gadot’s Wonder Woman character, that’s something they’ll have to take some time to figure out.
