Fierce 2023: Everything we know about sexual assault allegations after a party

The Feroz gala was held in Zaragoza on Saturday, rewarding the best Spanish cinema and series of the year. However, headlines popped up the next morning about alleged sexual assaults at the Espacio Ebro restaurant, where the post-event party was held, featuring many of the industry’s personalities. It was revealed that the actress Jedet had filed a complaint against Javier Pérez Santana, producer of ‘Mi vacío y yo’film about transsexuality nominated for the Fierce Outburst award for fiction, but it would not have been an isolated case.

About 200 people attended the party and lasted until six in the morning, with an open bar from one to three. According to El País, several witnesses saw how Santana, in a drunken state, “I kissed her on the mouth and neck and touched her ass” without his permission several men of the party. Finally, the actress of the ‘Veneno’ would have decided to denounce her behavior. It was not the only complaint of the evening: another man, who remains anonymous, denounced another of those present for the same cause, who according to the Association of Film Whistleblowers of Spain (AICE) would also be a member of the team of the same movie.

Santana, 55, was arrested shortly thereafter and was released on charges. The matter is in the hands of the Family and Women’s Care Unit, according to sources from the National Police to the newspaper elDiario.es.

The testimonies, however, are not finished. Actor Bob Pop, who was present at the event until three in the morning, confessed to the program on Monday Day to day that Santana also harassed him at the party. “He came like three times to try to eat my mouth without my permission”says the creator of the series ‘Maricón perdido’, who assures him “At no point did I think this could be reported”. The IAEC has released a statement in which “repudiates and strongly condemns the sexual assaults that were reported at the 2023 Feroz Awards gala after party”. He also ensures that the security of the event intervened as soon as they became aware of the facts, “isolate the aggressors and assist the victims”. Its president, María Guerra, condemned and deplored the alleged events and assured it suspicions will remain “Banned for Life”.

At the moment the possible participation of the other man reported is being investigated, who according to the AIEC is also part of the ‘Mi vacio y yo’ team. Adrián Silvestre, director of the film, publicly communicated through his Twitter page that he was not present at the time of the events and that he only learned what had happened the following day through the media. “I was not present during the argument with the actress, the arrival of the police or the subsequent arrest”he writes, asking that his right to honor be respected. “Therefore, I have not been directly or indirectly involved in this or any other sexual assault. I have not been arrested, charged or investigated”. We will have to wait to find out more details on the matter, as well as the identity of the member who, together with Santana, would have been denounced for alleged sexual assaults.
