Shortly after the success of ‘A Lady’s Gambit’, in 2020, the director announced that he would embark on a project that was also his most ambitious: to adapt ‘Laughter in the Dark’, the novel by Vladimir Nabokov, where Anya Taylor- Joy will play Margot Peters, the 17-year-old actress and aspiring model for whom the protagonist leaves the family.
