If you haven’t seen the second season of The White Lotus, this is your warning not to proceed. Now that we’ve got that out of the way, we can move on.

The first season of HBO’s hit drama The White Lotus was supposed to be a one-time limited series, but with fan and critical response, its creator, Mike White, was approached by the network and offered another season. He’s whipped up another star-studded story, and he’ll make yet another, but the only holdout from the first anthology season, other than the name of the international resort itself, was the Golden Globe and Emmy-winning actress Jennifer CoolidgeTanya McQuoid character. But season 2 saw the end of her story, as she was sadly killed.

At last week’s premiere of his new romantic action comedy, Shotgun weddingCoolidge expressed to Variety that she’d love to return as Tanya McQuoid in a possible prequel, but says she needs help from fans and even her fellow actors and red carpet reporters. She said:

“To me, I think I look like a crybaby or something.”

But when the interviewer asked her to come back for a prequel, she said:

“If you can make it work… You’ll run into something [White], I know who you are. Tell him.”

He spoke about his response after learning of Tanya’s death:

“I said, ‘Do I really have to be killed?’ And [White] he said, ‘Yes, it’s over, Jennifer.’”

Coolidge happily reported that his gay fans came up and sang the dance remix of his now-iconic line, “These gays, they’re trying to kill me.”

“In a lot of these nightclubs, it’s the last song of the night.”

I would absolutely watch a prequel series centered on Coolidge’s Tanya. But at least, if nothing else, Coolidge got a Golden Globe and an Emmy for his portrayal of her, and one line remixed into a song, so if it all stops there, she’s been in for a ride.
