Warner Bros. and Graceland, Elvis Presley’s estate, pulls out all the stops to celebrate the King of Rock n’ Roll’s birthday on January 8.
The film directed by Baz Luhrmann, What is the highest-grossing original film of 2022 at $286 million will be screened for free in 10 cities as part of various celebrations. These markets include Atlanta (AMC Phipps Plaza), Chicago (AMC River East), Dallas (AMC NorthPark), Kansas City, KS (AMC Town Center), Los Angeles (AMC Burbank), NYC (Loews 34th Street), San Francisco ( AMC Metreon), Toronto (Cineplex Scotiabank) and Vancouver (Cineplex Odeon International Village). All shows are at 5pm except LA which starts at 4pm. Before the screening, Luhrmann and star Austin Butler will give an introduction. There is a show at Graceland in Memphis at 2:00 p.m.
The film was nominated for three Golden Globes, including Best Motion Picture Drama; Best director, Luhrman and best actor-drama, Butler.
While the film can be seen on HBO Max, a special 30-minute special will also be released on January 8. Just a Boy from Tupelo: Bringing Elvis to the Big Screen about the filming of the Luhrmann film.
SiriusXM also installs the elvis Cast Town Hall Jan. 6-8 with Luhrmann, Butler, Tom Hanks and Olivia DeJonge on Elvis Radio (Ch. 75), hosted by SiriusXM host Jess Cagle.
RCA Records will also release the never-before-released full-length mash-up track elvis: Britney Spears x Elvis Presley “Toxic Las Vegas: Jamieson Shaw Remix” on January 6th.

–Elvis Movie Marathon and Club Elvis Hawaiian-style dinner, dancing and “Blue Hawaii” (January 5),
–Graceland Trip to Tupelo; Archive Show & Tell; annual Elvis Birthday Pops concert with Terry Mike Jeffrey and the Memphis Symphony Orchestra (January 6).
–Conversations with Elvis with host Tom Brown, guests Hal Lansky, Glen Hardin and Alton Mason, who plays Little Richard in the film; Elvis: Aloha from Hawaii 50e Birthday concert (January 7).
–Elvis’ Birthday Proclamation Ceremony, with free online viewing via Graceland’s Live Stream page; Lisa Marie Presley will attend the ceremony with guest of honor Alton Mason, which will take place at 08:30 in the mansion’s front garden (January 8).
–The unveiling of “The Making of ELVIS” at Elvis Presley’s Memphis, a new exhibition in collaboration with Warner Bros., National Film and Sound Archives of Australia and Luhrmann, which explores the beginning of the creative process from film to the big screen ; Alton Mason will also be present at the opening (January 8).
Graceland is offering new limited-time ELVIS Movie Ultimate VIP (UVIP) tours (January 9 – February 28).

Presley was born on January 8, 1935 in Tupelo, Miss. and died on August 16, 1977 at the age of 42. He would have turned 88 this year.
