As 2022 draws to a close, it’s worth noting that the past year has been an incredible one for television. From new series to returning favorites, the future of television has never looked brighter.
One of the best TV shows of 2022 was undoubtedly “This Is Us”. The NBC series returned for its sixth and final season, bringing fans the latest chapter of the Pearson family. When it comes to the final seasons, they can make or break the entire show (i.e. “Game of Thrones”). “This Is Us” surpassed all expectations and captivated us with an amazing storytelling. The penultimate episode “O Trem” will go on to become one of the best TV episodes of the last decade. Rebecca’s Last Voyage was a beautiful and moving look at a life well lived, exquisitely played by Mandy Moore.
‘This Is Us’ is a show that will never be forgotten. Family drama was a beautiful showcase of family power. “Elementary Abbott”

It’s been a long time since a network sitcom won hearts like “Abbott Elementary.” The Emmy-winning comedy follows Philadelphia elementary school teachers in their daily lives. The cast has electric chemistry, and the show is making strides into its second season. ‘Abbott Elementary’ is a heartfelt series that is giving TV shows a hard time.
‘Strange things’

The summer of 2022 will be known as “Stranger Things Summer”. After nearly 3 years of waiting, the hit Netflix series returns with an epic season that captivated the world. Season 4 introduced a new big bad villain, Vecna, and gave us stars like Joseph Quinn (RIP Eddie) and Jamie Campbell Bower. In addition to the action-packed scenes, the fourth season explored the different shades of pain and guilt through Max. Only the Duffer Brothers could make the world haunted by a song from 1985. The fourth season set the stage for a fifth and truly groundbreaking final season.
“House of the Dragon”

The long-awaited ‘Game of Thrones’ prequel ‘House of the Dragon’ debuted in 2022 and did not disappoint. The series follows the rise and terrible fall of the Targaryen dynasty. ‘House of the Dragon’ could have easily fallen apart with two versions of the female characters, but Milly Alcock, Emily Carey, Olivia Cooke and Emma D’Arcy wowed as young and adult versions of Rhaenyra Targaryen and Alicent Hightower. Matt Smith, Paddy Considine, Eve Best and Steve Toussaint completed the important figures of this first chapter. The first season was certainly the introduction to the deadly Dance with Dragons, but it captivated the viewers from the very first episode. Love for the world of ‘Game of Thrones’ is still alive and well.
“The White Lotus”

HBO’s latest sensation is back for a second season in 2022, this time in Sicily. The stellar second season was a lush exploration of sex and desire. The fall television season revolved around ‘The White Lotus’ and the impact of season 2 will be felt through 2023. Aubrey Plaza, Meghann Fahy, Theo James, Will Sharpe, Haley Lu Richardson and Adam DiMarco all had some great moments . under the spotlight. the second season… And then there’s the one and only Jennifer Coolidge. Your fan-favorite character Tanya is back and giving us a season finale we’ll never forget.
“High School Musical: The Musical: The Series”

“High School Musical: The Musical: The Series” just keeps getting better. Season 3 premiered in July 2022 and followed many of the East High Wildcats to summer camp. Leaving school was the perfect refresher for the series. This talented cast of young actors proves in every episode how multi-talented they are as performers. Sofia Wylie is a huge movie star in the making, and she continues to rock more layers than Gina, even with her most basic look. Joshua Bassett’s comedic timing in Season 3 was absolutely perfect. Julia Lester, Matt Cornett, Frankie A. Rodriguez, Dara Renee, along with newcomers Saylor Bell and Adrian Lyles made this season perfect in every way.
‘Bear’

Jeremy Allen White rose to fame as Lip Gallagher on 11 seasons of ‘Shameless’ and is finally getting the recognition he deserves for his new role in FX’s ‘The Bear’. Jeremy plays a young chef named Carmy who returns to Chicago to run the family restaurant after his brother’s suicide. While Carmy works to fix the shop, he works to fix himself and deal with the consequences of losing him. Jeremy has always been a force to be reckoned with as an actor, and this latest role is proof of that.
‘Children’

‘The Boys’ haven’t lost the ball yet. The Prime Video series returned for Season 3 in June 2022, giving fans its best season yet. From the incredible Herogasm to Jensen Ackles’ debut as Soldier Boy, season three was filled with epic moments. The cast’s effortless chemistry is on full display in season three. But it was Antony Starr’s engaging and nuanced portrayal of Homelander that stood out the most in season three. He has this amazing ability to make Homelander extremely obnoxious, but also compulsively observable.
‘Wednesday’

It’s officially the “Wednesday” era. The Netflix series about the Addams Family icon moves to Teen Wednesday at the exclusive Nevermore Academy. It’s a coming-of-age story that the whole family can enjoy. Jenna Ortega is outstanding in the role, breathing new life into the legendary character. She’s the biggest star in the world right now, and for good reason. “Wednesday” broke all kinds of records for Netflix and made instant stars Emma Myers, Percy Hynes White, Hunter Doohan and more. While season 2 has yet to get the green light, “Wednesday’s” reign of terror is far from over.
“The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power”

It’s about the prequels right now. ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’ made an epic debut in September 2022. The scope of the show is truly unparalleled and has given fans of Tolkien’s world even more to love. The first season was slow as the groundwork was laid for the future, but the twist of the season finale left a lasting impression. ‘The Rings of Power’ is just beginning.
‘Euphoria’

Season 2 of ‘Euphoria’ kicked off in 2022 with a bang. As the slogan said, the worst is never forgotten. Hulu’s college drama series made viewers, especially millennials, remember that bad ex and the ups and downs of the 2000s. Showrunner Meaghan Oppenheimer captured the despair of this toxic romance while giving viewers a dose of nostalgia. . Brightside’ and Blackberry. Grace Van Patten and Jackson White have heady chemistry as Lucy and Stephen. Their story is far from over as the show will return for a second season.
‘Heart attack’

“Five Days at the Memorial”

‘Five Days At Memorial’ wasn’t just one of the best shows of 2022, it’s one of the biggest series to premiere in a long time. The series chronicles the devastating impact of Hurricane Katrina on a local hospital. Doctors and nurses had to make tough decisions in real time as they tried to help their patients. “Five Days At Memorial” is a tough but necessary watch. It is essential to monitor to make sure this does not happen again. The Apple TV+ series was hosted by an all-star cast that included Vera Farmiga, Cherry Jones, Julie Ann Emery, Cornelius Smith Jr. and Adepero Oda. This show should be part of the conversation about awards season in 2023.
‘For all mankind’
