Ukraine compares fighting Russia to “dying” in a video.

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has released a Christmas-themed video comparing the fight against Russia to the Bruce Willis-starrer 1988 So difficult.

The clip contains an edited version of a trailer for the 1988 action shot, in which Ukraine presents its new Himars (High Mobility Artillery Rocket System) system and insists that the “underdog” will win.

“This Christmas, Ukraine celebrates the festive story of how an arrogant terrorist’s military special operation was thwarted by a cunning outsider,” reads the caption at the beginning of the video. It was posted on Twitter along with the caption, “An underdog defeating the bad guys. This is the kind of story we all enjoy. Dedicated to all die-hards on the front line. Ukraine will win! Hooray…!”

In the clip, Russia is represented by Hans Gruber, Alan Rickman’s character, and John McClane of Willis represents Ukraine.

“It was the perfect plan, with nothing left to chance until everything went wrong,” the lyrics read, followed by footage of Willis’ McClane exclaiming, “Welcome to the party, friend!”

The video also features an edited version of one of the film’s most famous scenes – a dead terrorist saying “I’ve got a machine gun Ho-Ho-Ho now.” The teletext read: “Now I have HIMARS, Ho-Ho-Ho.” HIMARS (High Mobility Artillery Rocket System) is a five-ton truck capable of launching long-range guided missiles.

The video ends with the caption “The War You Never Wanted, You Can’t Miss”. This Christmas, the old story of David and Goliath applies very closely to us.”
