“Stranger Things” could have an anime spin-off

From Hawkins (or What’s on Netflix) come new rumors about the future of the ‘Stranger Things’ franchise. If the Duffer brothers had already announced some time ago that they would continue to explore the Upside down world with at least one spin-off from the series and a theatrical setting, it seems that one of the projects could be an anime.

From the medium they ensure that Netflix and the Duffers would have worked for a long time on the new series, which began to be talked about in 2021 and would be titled “Stranger Things Tokyo”. For now, the streaming platform has not made any official announcements, but it is true that the ‘Stranger Thing’ showrunners had already announced in the Happy Sad Confused podcast that the spin-off they were planning would be very different in terms of form. it refers to how the story is told, even if it would have connections to the universe we already know.

Although we have talked thousands of times about the influences of ‘Stranger Thing’, the films that inspire the Duffers or the homages of each season, the series has also influenced other productions, for example ‘Avatar: The Sense of Acqua’. According to James Cameron himself, the director ventured to shoot several “Avatar” sequels simultaneously to avoid the passage of time being too evident in the part of the child cast: “There’s the ‘Stranger Things’ effect when they should still be in high school and they look like they’re 27.”

And is that although the first of the sequels reflects a time jump with the first installment, between 2, 3 and “Avatar 4” not many years pass, so the three were filmed at least partially simultaneously. “The Sense of Water” is already in theaters and “Avatar 3” is still in post-production for its premiere on December 19, 2024.
