AARP has released the nominees for the 21st annual Movies for Grownups Awards for Best Movie, TV and Filmmaker of 2022. Steven Spielberg’s The Fables leads with six nominations, followed by other awards-season favorites Everything, everywhere, all at once and The queen of women are the next with five each, and tar and she said with four each.
All these photos except she said will also compete for Best Film/Best Adult Film Elvis, Top Gun: Maverick and women talk Spielberg is with James Cameron (Avatar: The Way of Water), Todd Field (tar), Baz Luhrman (elvis) and Gina Prince-Bythewood (The queen of women). The boxes of the film are racing for the best lead actor Independent thinking person‘s Tom Cruise vs. Brendan Fraser (The whale), Tom Hanks (A man named Otto), Bill Nighty (life) and Adam Sander (Hurry up). Cate Blanchett (tar), Viola Davis (The queen of women), Lesley Manville (Mrs. Harris goes to Paris), Emma Thompson (Good luck to you Leo Grande) and Michelle Yeoh (Everything, everywhere, all at once).
The nominees for best screenplay are Field (tar), Tony Kushner and Spielberg (The Fables), Kazuo Ishiguro (life), Rebecca Lenkiewicz (she said) and Dana Stevens (The queen of women).
The nominees for Best TV Series are Abbott Elementary, The Old Man, Only Murders in the Building, The White Lotus and yellowstone. To be the best fighter for TV movies / limited series black bird, The fallout, Anna finds out, The staircase and The Observer.
“The iconic talents we’re honoring this year represent a cultural shift in how aging Americans are perceived and valued,” said Tim Appelo, film and television critic for the AARP. “They inspire us to think differently about life. And we’re thrilled that the Movies for Grownups Awards are back as a live event, celebrating a plethora of grown-up masterpieces that we could hardly have imagined when we started the awards decades ago.
AARP’s awards also include special categories, including Best Intergenerational Movie, Best Time Capsule and Best Adult Love Story
