Mary Jay Blige will receive the Icon Award Billboard Music Awards 2022 Sunday 15 May. As part of the accolade, the show host of the last half of the Super Bowl and ten-time BBMA winner will broadcast live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas at 8pm ET. / 5pm PT on NBC and airs live on Peacock.
Blige joins ten other artists who have received the Icon Award, which honors outstanding artists who have achieved excellence on the Billboard charts and have left an indelible mark on music. Since the award’s inauguration in 2011, previous winners include Neil Diamond, Steve Wonder, Prince, Jennifer Lopez, Celine Dion, Cherry, Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey, Gart Brooks and last year Pink.
“My career has been such an incredible and unexpected journey that has involved so many paths I could never have imagined, including acting, producing, starting a business and now my music festival as well,” he said. Blige in a note. “All this time, I’ve always been drawn to my first love, music. Recognizing this at the Billboard Music Awards ceremony is an incredible honor and I feel truly honored. “
