Shane Warne dies: Michael Clarke seen for first time since cricketer’s death

Michael Clarke has appeared on live TV for the first time since he burst into tears while talking about the death of longtime friend Shane Warne.

On Thursday, the 40-year-old retired Australian cricket captain turned host looked depressed as he ran errands in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.

She donned dark sunglasses, a black tee and shorts while doing errands near the house and added a sporty twist with white sneakers fresh out of the box.

On the way out, Clarke was seen talking on the phone, pulling shopping bags out of the trunk of her luxury car, and talking to a neighbor.

It came after he got excited live on Today at the thought of saying goodbye to his close friend Warne, who died days ago in Thailand.

On March 8, host Karl Stefanovic asked Clarke how he would conduct the state funeral, which will take place on March 30 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Clarke was suddenly stunned by the idea and fought her emotions in stunned silence for a painful 15 seconds before finally collapsing.

“Don’t cry anymore, God,” she snapped, rubbing her red-rimmed eyes. ‘It will be difficult. It will be difficult…

“I see that a grandstand that he definitely deserves has been named after him, and I’m sure he’ll get the farewell he deserves.

“But I don’t think I’ll ever say goodbye.”

The heartbreaking moment came after Clarke disappointed the Today presenters with memories of her first trip to Warne’s home in Melbourne.

Selected by Warne to wear the famous number 23 jersey, Clarke said that the proud Victorian had taken him under his wing from his first day with the national team and that he would quit what he always did when it came to him, and asked for help.

Sad: Clarke was excited when she spoke with host Karl Stefanovic on Tuesday, March 8, on Nine's Today about her memories of Warne, who died days ago in Thailand.

“I remember when I first got to his house I pressed the doorbell and he left the door open so I opened it,” she said.

“His house is huge. The only time I’ve seen tiles this big was in a mall in Westfield! I said, “King, where are you?” and he says: “Come in!”

“I walked into one of these seven lounge areas and he’s sitting in his solarium with his glasses, his Speedos, and a cigarette hanging from his mouth.

“I was like, ‘Who’s doing this?!” Leave the front door open first and smoke in the solarium… just Warnie! ‘

He revealed that he is still in shock about Warne’s death.

“I think like everyone who really loves cricket all over Australia and around the world, this is still a huge shock,” he said. “Very crude, of course.

“If a man can read what the kids are saying and he said mom and dad and Simon said and can’t shed a tear, then you’re a better man than me.

“I couldn’t imagine leaving my little princess because I have a little girl. It’s very difficult for everyone.’

But he added: “For me, it’s about trying to remember the many wonderful moments I’ve been lucky to have with the king.”

Clarke, who scored 151 points in his first match against India, soon became the golden boy of Australian cricket.

And like Warne, he was constantly on the front page of the tabloids with his then-girlfriend Lara Bingle.

“I idolized him, adored him, and he was the sports superstar I adored,” Clarke wrote in an article for the sun herald.

“But I felt like we were friends from the day we met. I don’t know why he was so open, kind, generous and loving to me from day one, but he was.’

He said he continually reached out to Warne for support and advice and would “drop everything” for him.

“I idolized him, adored him, and he was the sports superstar I adored,” Clarke said.

“There has never been a time when I couldn’t answer the phone. There wasn’t a time I didn’t cry. There hasn’t been a time when he didn’t drop everything to be my friend no matter what I needed,” Clarke said.

“That’s what makes it so difficult.”

Clarke also revealed that Warne flew to Sydney from England for Clarke’s birthday party, which turned out to be a surprise engagement.

Warne did not dock at his mansion in Thailand around 5:15 pm on Friday, March 4, and was later pronounced dead. He was 52 years old.

An autopsy revealed that the legendary “Spin King” died of natural causes, with a heart attack believed to be the cause of death.

He will be greeted with a private funeral on March 20 at a state memorial at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on March 30.
