Strictly Come Dancing star Graziano di Prima is married to his longtime partner Giada Lini on his childhood home island of Sicily.

The 28-year-old dancer was sworn in at a traditional Catholic ceremony with Giada, who had previously delayed her marriage plans due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 90-minute Catholic service took place in the Basilica of Our Lady of Chain on the Mediterranean Island, a historic church in the picturesque village of Castiglione di Sicilia.

“I tried to be strong all day, but I couldn’t help crying because of my love for Jade. When I saw her coming in the carriage, I started to cry.

“I cried more as she walked towards me down the hall. My mom grabbed my elbow and squeezed it for support. It was more than I expected. I must have told her 50 or 60 times how beautiful she was.

Spending his time between London and Venice, Graziano grew up in Sicily but left at 17 to pursue his dream of becoming a professional dancer.

A local celebrity was now believed to be in place when longtime residents of the close-knit Sicilian community returned to marry her longtime partner.

Graziano and Giada met for the first time in 2014 and admitted that they “fallen instantly in love”.

After the ceremony, the newlyweds and their 200 guests were moved to the 14th-century Falconara Castle, which offers breathtaking views of the Mediterranean.

The couple arrived on horseback and by car before heading to the venue listening to the tunes of the popular Frozen song A Whole New World.

With a live band providing entertainment, the party went out when the temperatures dropped, while guests enjoyed an outdoor setting illuminated by fairy lights.

Looking back on their special day, Giada revealed that the castle was a symbolic place for the couple.

“Graziano used to drive me to the gate of the castle when we started hanging out, and he didn’t have a car, just a Vespa.

“I was going through the door to see if we could get into the castle, but the door was always locked. We never thought we would have money to rent for our wedding.

Sicily was the perfect place to remind us how it all started.
