Jennifer Lopez has talked about her strained relationship with her mother in the past, which led to the singer leaving home at the age of 18.
Jennifer Lopez claimed that when she was a child, her mother “beat” her.
She has previously talked about her strained relationship with her mother Guadalupe Rodríguez, but in her latest documentary on Netflix she accused her mother of “beating her”.
She also talked about what made her decide to leave the house at the age of 18.
The star said: “She did what she had to do to survive, and that made her strong, but also tough. She beat you to death. “
“My mother said to me: ‘If you are going to live in this house, you will go to school.’ We had a fight one night and I left. ‘

The documentary, Halftime, premiered on June 8 and can be seen on Netflix.
The singer-turned-actress described her 76-year-old mother as “complicated,” but the couple seem to have grown closer over the years.
Rodriguez said in the documentary: “I always had the highest expectations of them. It wasn’t to criticize them. It was just to show them they could do better.”

“Jennifer, she was the one who gave me the most trouble, to tell you the truth. We hit our heads a lot.
“I was far from being the perfect mother. The one thing I can always say, everything I’ve done, I’ve done with the best interest at heart. “
In the documentary, Lopez also explained that he was about to leave show business because of his “curvy ass”.
The 52-year-old musician said she rose to fame at a time when the celebrity’s ideal body was slim, which helped her to give up her dreams of stardom.

He said, “There have been a few times when I thought, ‘I think I’ll quit. I really had to find out who I was. And you believe in that and you don’t believe in anything else.
“When I started working, the ideal beauty was very thin, blonde, tall, without many curves. I grew up surrounded by round women, so I was never ashamed of anything.
“It was tough when you think people think you’re a joke, like a joke. But it ended up influencing things in a way I never wanted to.
