The series became famous as the record holder of a debtor and a guide for the most terrible American legends.

But even after 15 seasons, among all the spirits, demons and creatures that Sam and Dina met Winchesters, the most terrible monster, according to many fans, already appeared in the first season – of course we talk about the Bloody Mary series.

The legend that has become a nightmare

The fifth episode of the first season still causes goose bumps, even with experienced spectators. In this series, the Winchesters brothers are just starting to work together without a father, there is still tension between them and the search for trust. He himself still experiences the death of Jessica, and his personal pain becomes part of the story itself: it is Sam’s fault that becomes one of the reasons why Mary chooses him with his victim.

The plot is built around the classic American legend: in Tolido, Ohio start mysterious dead associated with mirrors. Children and adolescents repeat the name “Bloody Mary” in front of the mirror – and this is not just a game.

Behind all cases is a real mind – the deceased Mary Wartington, who can move between the mirrors, appears the appearance of her victims and they kill in the most terrible way: literally “burn” the eyes from the inside. The appearance of the Spirit – long hair that hides his face, Bloody Eyes – looks like images of the best (and most terrible) zero horror films.

The climax of the episode is really terrible: when, it seems that the angry spirit is being destroyed, the broken mirror is a portal for the last attack and Mary is published in physical form and the brothers attacks. Moments, when it comes from the fragments, is still considered one of the most tense and frightening in the entire history of the series to this day.

It was on such stories that the early reputation of the “supernatural” was built.

The maker of the Eric Kripka series in one of the interviews admitted: initially the idea was to make a new “horror film” every week.

The frightening city legends such as Mary and Hook became the basis of the first seasons, creating an atmosphere and filled every episode with real fear. Later, when the plot started to go more and more in mythology and epic, there were less such pure horror search assignments. However, they were who largely determined the success of the project and the love of the public.
