The 71-year-old Jackie Chan suddenly spoke firmly about the state of the film industry.
In an interview with Deadline at the Filmfestival in Locarno, where the actor received a reward for his contribution to his career, he stated that modern cinema was demolished compared to the past.
“The old cinema was better than the current one,” Jackie said. “Not the directors, but dealers, now refuel in large studios. They have invested forty million and the only thought to beat. No step on the side, no risk. In such circumstances, making a really good film is almost unrealistic.”
After the performance of the actor, the social network exploded. Many spectators agreed with his words that “the risk left the cinema” and large franchises turned into a conveyor belt (Hello Marvel). On the contrary, others noted that Jackie himself was part of the system that he now criticizes.

In addition to criticism of studios, Jackie shared his memories of his career and talked about how to literally learn on the set – from organizing tricks to installation.
He joked that only two directors throughout Asia can write a script at the same time, photograph, play in the frame, put stunts and mount – his friend Sammo Hong and himself.
“And I am better because I can sing,” Chan added.
According to him, it was the music that became a salvation for him: the actor understood that he could not always risk health on dangerous tricks, so he decided to control the vocals so that he had an alternative.
- In his youth, Chan learned to sing himself to not just scenes.
- His professional motto was: “I want to become the Asian Robert de Niro.”
- He admitted that at some point he seriously thought of throwing Hollywood because of the weak scenarios.
- Fate was determined by the comedy “Hour of the Peak”: “It was the last attempt. If the film failed, I would have bound. But” Hour of the Peak “changed the culture”.
