While Netflix squeezes the last spin-offs of old franchises, Apple TV+ rolled out a series that suddenly became a major replacement of “heavy”.
It is called “friends and neighbors”, and if you have not yet heard about him, it is time to repair it: the series already has 7.4 points on the film and in the US it was extended for the second season. The most important role is played by John Hamm – and he does not try here the advertiser’s costume here, but falls directly into the criminal drama of the AMC level.
The plot is immediately tied up – without swing. In the first scene, Hamma Hero, Andrew Cooper (or Just Cup) wakes up next to a corpse and a puddle of blood. Furthermore, the series fades back: before the dismissal, before the betrayal of his wife with his best friend, until the moment he decides that, because everything has collapsed, we have to try himself … in the theft of luxury things of his own rich friends. Rolex, Birkin, designer jewelry-so will not even notice that something has disappeared. All this account is sold by a colorful Huckster performed by Randy Danson and keeps pretending that everything is fine with him.
It sounds crazy, but it works. “Friends and neighbors” balances agile between the black comedy and the drama about how a rich guy turns into a small but very inventive criminal. The bill hides his double life for everyone – from his wife, children, friends, a mentally unstable sister and even from his own conscience.
Around Hamma is a strong cast: Amanda Pete in the role of his ex -woman, Olivia Mann – as a friend who seems to have fallen in love with him in vain, Lena Hall, with whom he has a real emotional bond. Eimi Carrero is mainly reminded in the role of a girl, who is not only aware of the double life of a compartment, but also voluntarily participates. All this together gives a very lively, convincing world in which everyone is too busy with themselves to note that diamonds are disappearing in their corners.
If you have missed the “smart” criminal series with a charismatic anti -hero – this is it. “Friends and neighbors” are already extensive for the second season. The first is only available on Apple TV+.
