Penny Lancaster revealed that her husband Rod Stewart lost his voice before the Queen’s Jubilee concert this weekend, nearly having to retire from his performance.
Penny Lancaster revealed that her husband, Rod Stewart, almost left the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee concert at the last minute after losing his voice.
The Maggie May star played Sweet Caroline at the event, ostensibly because she’s the monarch’s favorite, but it looks like it hardly happened after the backstage drama.
Speaking to Loose Women, Penny said Rod’s voice was a hit after the covid.
When asked if it was true that Rod almost had to retire at the last minute, he replied, “Yeah, I mean, it was very, very tactile.”

“I was so nervous before,” added the model and the reality star.
He explained to the speakers: “He was in Las Vegas for three weeks and contracted covid. He returned home, he had passed the 10 days of contagion but had lost his voice.
“So at the sound check on Wednesday he attended and as a precaution he was wearing a mask, he had no voice.

“Friday went to another test, it was just a tweak.
“His voice is there now, but it wasn’t quite right,” he said.
However, Penny said her husband “didn’t want to disappoint everyone” and continued the show, performing in front of thousands of cheering people outside Buckingham Palace.
“It wasn’t the Rod Stewart show, it was the show for the nation, for Queen, for all together,” said the blonde.

During the concert, Rod performed some of his hits, as well as Sweet Caroline, sung by some of the young royals.
The song is actually originally from Neil Diamond.
And when Rod, 77, started singing it at the concert, he apparently told the crowd: “The BBC made me sing it.”
