The holiday season just got a whole lot spookier with the release of the official trailer for Cineverse’s upcoming remake of the 1984 cult horror classic Silent night, deadly night.
The new version promises to deliver a darker, bloodier, and completely unrated take on Christmas terror that’s sure to shake even the most seasoned horror fans.
“In 1984, a film shocked audiences, was banned from theaters, and traumatized an entire generation. From the studio that produced Terrifier 3, comes a fresh, unrated take on the cult classic. This Christmas, spread holiday fear.”
Directed and written by Mike P. Nelsonknown for The servants, Wrong turnand a segment in V/H/S/8this retelling follows the same chilling setup as the original.
A young boy named Billy witnesses the brutal murder of his parents on Christmas Eve by a man dressed as Santa Claus. Years later, scarred by trauma and consumed by anger, Billy dons the red suit himself, turning Christmas into a night of vengeance and bloodshed.
The synopsis reads: “A reimagining of the controversial 1984 cult horror classic (directed by Charles E. Sellier Jr) – When Billy witnesses the grisly murder of his parents on Christmas Eve at the hands of Santa Claus, he ignites a lifelong mission to spread holiday fear.
“Every Christmas, he dons the jolly red suit and carries out a blood-soaked massacre to fuel his twisted sense of justice. This Christmas Eve, Billy wants to know, ‘Have you been bad?'”
The film is the protagonist Rohan Campbell, Rubino Modine, Marco Acheson, David Lawrence BrownAND David Tomlinsonwith production handled by Erik Bernard, Scott Schneider, Jamie R. Thompson, Jeremy TorrieAND Dennis Whitehead.
The trailer teases brutal kills, carnage in the snow and a tone dripping with bloody terror. It’s a real nightmare wrapped in tinsel and soaked in blood. Nelson’s performance seems grittier and meaner than ever, promising a chilling blend of old-school slasher energy with the intensity of modern horror.
Cineverse will launch Silent Night, Deadly Night in select theaters starting December 12, 2025, just in time to ruin your cozy holiday cheer.
