Mads Mikkelsen on his video game roles in HITMAN and DEATH STRANDING: “I had no idea what was going on”

Mads Mikkelsen He has a way of stealing every scene he’s in, whether on the big screen or in the wild world of a video game. So when he showed up at this weekend’s Summer Game Fest to announce he was joining the Hitman franchise, fans were excited because he is reprising his role as the hit villain from the James Bond franchise.

During the IO Interactive presentation, Mikkelsen mused about taking on his latest role: a target for celebrity assassination Hitman: World of Assassins. He will play none other than Le Chiffre, his iconic villain Royal Casino.

This is a return to video games for him after his unforgettable performance as Clifford Unger in Hideo Kojima Stranded Death. When asked if the process was different this time, Mads gave a perfectly honest, Mads-style answer:

“I had no idea what was going on.”

Despite the strangeness of it all, his portrayal of Unger was outstanding in the game, and now, in Hitmanis returning to more familiar territory. It’s a move that ties his player character to one of his most recognizable movie roles. However, even with this connection, Mikkelsen said:

“There was definitely a difference”

before returning to the common thread again:

“I had no idea what was going on.”

I guess you don’t need to understand the whole picture to help create something great. You just have to commit to whatever the creators want you to do and recite the dialogue.
