Seven years ago, the creators of Black Mirror presented one of the most entertaining, creepy, and ironic episodes in the show’s history: ‘USS Callister’.
In the 73 minutes of running time, viewers saw a tribute to ‘Star Trek’, a parody of the parody ‘Galaxy Quest’, references to the story ‘I Have No Mouth, But I Must Scream’, a parallel to the Harvey Weinstein harassment, and more.
Despite the obvious mockery from science fiction fans, the series impressed a worldwide audience and sparked heated debate on the Internet.
Since December 2017, fans have been asking themselves every now and then: did Daly survive, trapped in the game’s endless space, where did the other characters go, and will they encounter Aaron Paul’s hero again?
It seems the answers await the audience in the upcoming sequel.
The main crew minus Jesse Plemons (Robert Daly) and Michaela Coel (Shania Lowry) returns to the set.
Among them are Cristin Milioti, Jimmi Simpson, Milanka Brooks, Billy Magnussen, Paul Raymond and Osi Ikhail.
They are clearly ready for an exciting adventure, as the cast is joined by familiar newcomers: Awkwafina (Jackpot!), Peter Capaldi (Doctor Who), Paul Giamatti (Billions), Emma Corrin (The Crown), Rashida Jones (The Social Network”), etc.
Although news of new series development emerged in late 2023, Netflix is still keeping details under wraps.
At this point, all we know is that the seventh season will be released in 2025.
