Shocking decision from Prime Video.

This past summer was a slow one for interesting new series, but a few streaming projects still managed to intrigue fans of multi-part stories.

This past June, rom-com fans excitedly watched the mega-popular ‘Bridgerton’, as well as a new project from Prime Video, ‘My Lady Jane’.

The writers turned the true story of Lady Jane Grey, who unexpectedly became Queen of England for nine days, into a fascinating series full of palace intrigue, excellent humor and an addictive love story.

Critics rated the first season of the series as excellent 95% “freshness”, and the audience gave “My Lady Jane” 90% on Rotten Tomatoes. Fans of the project had already mentally renewed it for a second season, but the producers at Prime Video shocked them and immediately cancelled My Lady Jane after the first season.

Representatives of Prime Video could not provide a reason for this radical decision, which angered fans even more. The situation became so tense that they launched a petition demanding that the series be renewed for a second season.

Unexpectedly for everyone, the petition was supported by George RR himself. Martin, who loved My Lady Jane too much.

“I really enjoyed My Lady Jane – it’s a clever and original historical fantasy. However, Amazon didn’t renew it for a second season. The show has a lot of fans and they’ve created a petition to force Amazon to make a sequel. I wish them the best of luck. Jane deserved more than nine days or eight episodes.” – said Martin.

Fans were happy to hear that the Game of Thrones author was demanding the series return. While some have already come to terms with the show’s closure, it’s unlikely that Prime Video will change its mind about canceling the series given Martin’s support.
