2024 has proven to be a very bad year for Netflix. Most of the platform’s big-budget films have received devastating reviews from critics and viewers. Only the films ‘I’m Not a Killer’ and ‘Rebel Ridge’ have managed to earn more 90% on Rotten Tomatoes.
It seems that Netflix producers have simply decided to postpone all their valuable films until the fall season. Very soon, the platform will release the drama series “His Three Daughters”, directed by Azazel Jacobs, which critics are already calling one of the best films of the year.
The story of an elderly father of a family, who spends his last days in the company of three such different but equally beloved daughters, amazed critics with its subtle humor and realistic acting.
Throughout the film, the main characters barely leave their father’s apartment, and dramatic plot twists and well-acted feuds between the sisters make the film truly suspenseful.
His Three Daughters stars Natasha Lyonne, Elizabeth Olsen and Carrie Coon, with Lady Bird cinematographer Sam Levy handling the camera.
American film critics who managed to see the film at the Toronto Film Festival found Jacobs’ project almost perfect 98% “Fresh” on Rotten Tomatoes – one of the best results for Netflix this year.
The film will be released on the streaming service on September 20. Even if it doesn’t become a huge hit, Lyonne, Coon and Olsen will definitely be in contention for Oscars next year.
Unfortunately, “His Three Daughters” is not worth the wait at the Russian box office.
