The film should have been cancelled at the concept stage.
When director Rupert Sanders announced his plans to remake the cult film The Crow, starring Bill Skarsgård as iconic character Brendan Lee, fans of the original immediately began cursing the director.
The 1994 classic is considered one of the greatest thrillers in cinematic history, and fans were genuinely confused as to why Sanders decided to remake it.
‘The Crow’ hit the big screens on August 21, but the film is already being called one of the worst in 2024. Film critics ‘buried’ the remake and gave it only 21% “fresh” on Rotten Tomatoes, but audiences simply didn’t go to the theaters to see it.

At the moment the photo has a budget of $40 million all collected 10 million – a terrible result for the ‘successor’ of the cult thriller.
Even the biggest remake haters aren’t happy about this catastrophic failure, but The Crow’s collapse has certainly cheered one person: the original film’s director, Alex Proyas.
Proyas mocked the remake of his film a few months before its release – he posted images of Skarsgård in makeup with ironic comments on his social networks and simply wondered why the producers took on this project.

But it was The Crow’s failure at the box office that really made Proyas happy.
“I thought the remake was a cynical money grab. It seems like [Сандерс] “I didn’t make as much money as I planned,” Proyas noted
Russian viewers do not share the hatred of American critics and Preuss for the remake of ‘The Crow’. More than 10,000 Kinopoisk users rated the film with Skarsgård and FKA Twigs quite 6.0 points.
