I watched the Indian ‘Forrest Gump’ and couldn’t believe my eyes: it really is better than the original

‘Forrest Gump’, which recently celebrated its thirtieth anniversary since its first release, is the kind of film that you either love with all your heart or hate. But no one is indifferent to it. As it turns out, there are so many people who are indifferent that they even filmed their own version of the film’s events in India. Moreover, their reading, according to the assurances of the majority of fans (oh horror), turned out to be much better and more interesting than the canonical one.

“Laal Singh Chaddha” is a remake with so much soul that anyone who watched it simply had no chance of not going to the light side. The film starring Aamir Khan has a similar tear-inducing storyline.

It was directed by Advait Chandan and released by Paramount. The film is about Laal (Khan), who unknowingly finds himself at the center of important events in Indian history (like Forrest experiencing American history), unaware of the magnitude of what he has witnessed, and yet remains a key figure in the film.

Much of the story takes place on a moving train, where Laal, an Indian Sikh, reveals his life story to the passengers.
