In the second episode of the new season of ‘House of the Dragon’, viewers were shown how Laenor Velaryon collects clams and crabs from the shore, in memory of one of Rhaenyra Targaryen’s favorite delicacies: clam chowder. This delicacy can be prepared even at home and without large costs.

Ingredients:

– 500 g fresh shellfish (such as mussels or oysters)

– 200 g fresh shrimps

– 1 liter of fish or chicken stock

– 1 glass of white wine (optional)

– 2 medium potatoes, cut into cubes

– 1 large onion, finely chopped

– 2 cloves of garlic, finely chopped

– 1 stalk celery, finely chopped

– 1 carrot, finely chopped

– 1 bay leaf

– 1 teaspoon thyme

– 1 teaspoon. dried oregano

– 1/2 tsp. black pepper

– Salt to taste

– 200 ml cream (optional)

– 2 tbsp. l. olive oil

– Fresh parsley for garnish

Cooking process:

– Rinse the mussels well and remove any open or damaged ones.

– Heat the olive oil in a large pan over medium heat.

– Add onion, garlic, carrots and celery. Cook until soft, about 5-7 minutes.

– Add potatoes, bay leaf, thyme and oregano.

– Add the fish or chicken stock and white wine (if using).

– Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until potatoes are tender, about 15 to 20 minutes.

– Add the mussels and shrimps to the pan. Cook over medium heat until the mussels open and the shrimp turn pink, about 5 to 7 minutes. Discard any mussels that do not open.

– Add cream (if using) and stir.

– Season with salt and black pepper.

– Remove the bay leaf.

– Spoon the stew into bowls and garnish with fresh parsley.
