Russia is in no hurry to copy the experiences of its Asian partners.
“Back to the Future”, “Interstellar” and many other films whose characters travel through time were officially banned in China. Local moviegoers have to travel abroad to see some of Hollywood’s biggest films, and the government’s explanation for such decisions doesn’t make much sense.
April 15, 2011 divided the lives of Chinese film fans into ‘before’ and ‘after’. It was on this day that the government decided to restrict the rental of time travel films and issued an official statement about this.

“Nowadays, time travel is a popular theme in TV series and films, but the meaning of such works, as well as their presentation, is highly questionable. Most of them are completely fictional and do not correspond to historical reality. Producers and writers take a serious story too lightly and this should not be encouraged.”
As local film critics explained, most such projects are not based on science, but on the desire to somehow comment on current affairs in their own way, and therefore they do not belong at the box office in the Middle Kingdom .
It is clarified that in China there is a strict quota for foreign films, and in a year just less than fifty premieres can be shown at the local box office, and therefore the authorities decided to slightly reduce competition by showing red light to an entire film genre.
It is symbolic that theater productions or books about time travelers are not banned and are freely available, but that does not make it any easier for local residents.
