An Oscar-winning producer has already been found for the project.
After a series of animated series about the young offspring of famous monsters and gods – from Frankenstein and Dracula to Cupid and Cleopatra – Mattel is finally ready for a feature film. The makers of the Monster High dolls collaborated with Universal for the filming.
The film adaptation of ‘Barbie’ grossed almost a billion and a half dollars at the box office, so it’s not surprising that Mattel decided to screen another feature-length film based on its popular franchise in theaters. The Monster High cartoon is produced by Akiva Goldsman.
“Monster High helps fans stay true to themselves and celebrates the unique feelings that are at the core of who we are as individuals. We are proud to partner with Universal Pictures and the brilliant Akiva Goldsman to bring this important message to audiences around the world,” franchise creator Robbie Brenner told THR.
Goldsman won an Oscar a few years ago for the film ‘A Beautiful Mind’, but this is the first time he has worked with children’s projects. The producer admitted that his daughters simply became obsessed with these dolls, and therefore he could not refuse Mattel such a tempting offer.
At the same time, they have not managed to select a director or a screenwriter for the as-yet untitled project, but it is possible that several global stars already involved in the Mattel show will be involved in the cartoon.
We can talk about Vin Diesel, Daniel Kaluuya and the legendary JJ Abrams working on a movie about Hot Wheels cars.
